Hip Dysplasia Is Only The Beginning...

Did you know that without the correct treatment plan many more

problems can result from this disease?

Upset?    YES!

Disappointed?    YES!

Frustrated?    YES!

 No one wants to see their dog suffering.  Do you want the BEST for your dog?

I know how your feel.  This happened to me.

Tragically many dog owners fail to recognize the sometimes fatal complications from hip dysplasia can result in the following problems for their pet...a-2574-hipbones

*  Spinal injury

*  Obesity

*  Crippling arthritis

*  Lameness

*  Osteoarthritis

*  High blood pressure

*  Aggressiveness

*  Extreme behavior changes

*  Cartilage damage

*  Bone damage

Elbow or Hip Dysplasia is essentially the abnormal growth of parts of the elbow or hip.  Although the growth occurs during puppyhood, the symptoms may not show up until later in life. Dogs affected by hip or elbow dysplasia often suffer from lameness, swelling and arthritis.

This ailment tends to affect larger breed dogs such as Golden Retrievers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Boerboels, Great Danes, Labradors etc.  Signs of the condition may begin appearing between five and 12 months of age.

So your dog is diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia or

Dejenerative Joint Disease... now what?

Most Veterinary traditional treatments will include NSAIDs - Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs.  Treatment will depend on several factors including your dog's age, heath, severity of the defects and the costs of treatment.

Treatments includes:

Anti-Inflammatory Drugs

Conventional medical treatment for canine hip dysplasia involves corticosteroids or non-steroidal medications and may include the following:

NSAIDs such as Rimadyl, Previcox, Metacam etc help relieve pain and inflammation.

While NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) stops the pain quickly, it does NOT prevent canine hip dysplasia damage to the joints and may even inhibit healing of the cartilage, further destroying the cartilage and joint components if used over a long period of time.

NSAIDs may also cause stomach ulcers and internal bleeding and even death.  They should only be use for short term pain relief - but Hip Dysplasia and Arthritis is a looong-term disease.

Acetaminophen treats mild to moderate pain in osteoarthritis.

It has no anti-inflammatory properties and is purely for pain relief. It can be used safely in conjunction with NSAIDs. Too much of this medicine can cause liver damage.

Corticosteriods or steriods for short are anti-inflammatory and analgesic pain relieving medications similar to NSAIDs.

They are very effective medication if your dog suffers from extreme pain or when they fail to respond to NSAIDs.  However the negative side GSD_hip_dysplasia_operationeffects of corticosteriods is that they are immuno suppressive and may also contribute to the destruction of your pet's joints by decreasing collagen and proteoglycans synthesis in cartilage.

Or they get operated on in very severe cases.

Sound Familiar?

Traditional Drug treatments are short-term treatments for a long-term condition.  Does this make sense to you?
I'm convinced!  My dog's worth it!

What your Dog NEEDS is something Effective and Safe.

satisfaction-guarantee-badge

Notice I said "effective"

This doesn't mean that aggressive drugs or treatments are your only option.  No!  Remember that the root of virtually all good drugs come from primarily natural sources.  Take a look at the statistic provided by the Journal of Natural Products. According to the facts...

"Around 70 percent of all new drugs introduced in the United States in the past 25 years have been derived from natural products"

So not only do you want something that is effective, it must also:

  1. give fast results
  2. have no adverse side effects
  3. can be used long term, safely
  4. is easy to administer
  5. does not contribute to weight gain
  6. affordable
  7. registered
  8. palatable for your dog

That is a lot to ask.  But we must not only ask for as much as we can for our dogs, we must also ask for the best for our dogs.

"After trying many other Joint Supplements with no success, I was at my wits end and then heard about Sashas Blend.  I tried it.

My 6 year old Male Rottweiler is a new dog!  No more crying when he has to get up and no more stiffness after going for a walk.  He is so much happier.

Thank you Sashas Blend!"  - Stacy - Cape Town

"Sashas Blend is the only Product I will prescrible for my patients suffering with Degenerative Joint Disease"  - Dr J J, Veterinarian, Stellenbosch

If this does not convince you that

Sashas Blend is a MUST HAVE Product then let's go a bit further:

BEST QUALITY INGREDIENTS:

Sashas Blend is so good that not only is it a registered Nutraceutical but it is the first nutraceautical in Australia to be registered as a Pharmaceutical too (APVMA registration).

Its is also registered with the Medical Control Council in South Africa - proving Efficacy, Quality and Safety.  All ingredients in Sashas Blend are Human Grade.

Registrations numbers:  V18886 Act 36 of 1947 - Dept of Agriculture and 140500 Act 101 of 1965 - Dept of Health (RSA) Medicines Control Council .

Logo-of-Ministry-of-Health-Republic-of-South-Africa mcc_logo

All science performed on Sashas Blend is performed on the product in its entirety.  WORLD'S BEST QUALITY SCIENCE:

What is that? It simply means that all science performed on Sashas Blend is performed on the product in its entirety.

When research is conducted on Sashas Blend , all the ingredients are tested:

  1. how the ingredients work individually and in combination with one anothertheir activity levels
  2. how they are extracted
  3. the manufacture process
  4. their origin
  5. their efficacy and safety
  6. their quality
  7. along with how they affect inflammation, pain levels, and cell viability of cartilage and the synovial membrane (that membrane that surrounds the joint and produces the thick joint fluid inside the joint that also feeds the caritlage)
  8. and the list goes on...

What does this mean?  Several things actually. Most Chondroitin and Glucosamine products out there use second hand science - meaning that their claims are based on the science performed on any one of the individual ingredients mentioned on the label.

main-image3_REV_10.detailHow does this effect you?  Well, the ingredients used in the science, although they may have the same name, may not necessarily be the same quality ingredients sourced and used in the jar.

Not all Chondroitin, Glucosamin etc is sourced from the same source, nor extracted in the same way, nor have the same active levels.  In a nutshell, some are inferior to others.  Manufacturing companies however may take the best science claims on these various ingredients and use it in advertising to promote the product.

This does not happen with Sashas Blend.

ALL our claims are what have been scientifically proved using the highest quality of science and based on the complete blend which makes up Sashas Blend.

Why is this so important?  Well, when two other international joint formulation products were put through some of the same rigorous scientific testing as Sashas Blend, they showed that they actually INCREASED inflammation in the joint, thereby making them only effective if used in conjuction with anti-inflammatories or NSAIDs!  Sashas Blend formulation decreased inflammation significantly.

Our science has also proved to be of the highest quality in the world currently.

In 2009, Scientists tried to see the quality of scientific evidence gained from GAG based nutraceautical products in equine joint disease. They studied all science published in respect of in-vivo research - that is science actually performed on the horses themselves.  Did you know that of the 315 product on the market in America only 15 of them had any published scientific findings over the last 25 years?

Of those 15 experiments, only 3 made it into to Minimum Quality Standards and of course - Sashas Blend came out on top.

So while there are natural treatments out there that promise to help your dog recover from hip dysplasia or some other degenerative joint disease, there are even MORE so called Natural treatments out there that are as useless as a stick of bubblegum after it has been chewed!

What does this teach us? - Not all products are created equally.

With Sashas Blend, you KNOW what you are buying.

"I want to thank you for saving my darling dog...

Thank you I love you for mixing this brilliant brew, a great testament to your product!!!"  - Sachmo the Dog,

What about molecular weight and Mammalian vs Marine Chondroitin or Glucosamine?

You must have seen the selling punchline on some of these joint formulation products stating that their Chondroitin and/or Glucosamine is of a lower molecular weight (usually between 7 and 10 kDa) which gives their product the ability to be rapidly absorbed into the body.

This is true.  But they also neglect to inform you that these GAGs are also very quickly excreted from the body.  Therefore, ideally you would need to take the product more often and in higher doses in order to achieve some visable result, making them in true terms, very expensive and not as effective as Sashas Blend.

Not as effective?   Let me explain:  Sashas Blend's science included a digestion simulation to see how our GAGs survive the Gastrointestinal (GI) Tract and what effect it has on the GI Tract.  In this we also looked at bioavailability of the molecules and what size molecule is the joint best able to accept and absorb.  We found that a damaged joint can accept a molecular weight of up to 50kDa.

What did we do?  We removed all molecules larger than 50kDa and kept all other molecules inside in the formulation.  That is why Sashas Blend is able to work so quickly and stay in the body so much longer making it so much more effective.

Another reason we do not use mammalian GAGs is due to the worldwide dangers of those horrible diseases like Mad Cow, Bird Flu etc.

OPTIMUM LEVELS OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:  What about the levels of active ingredients is Sashas Blend?

satisfaction_sealThis is also where Sashas Blend stands apart.  We extract our own actives from our ingredients through our patented processes.  In this way we are able to get and ensure the highest actives from our ingredients in every jar of Sashas Blend.

Most GAGs bought by manufacturing companies are sourced from the East where unfortunately there is no legislation specifying the extraction processes to be used to obtain actives from the ingredients nor is there any legislation specifying the best methods to use for the best results.  This makes these GAG's active levels unreliable at best.

With Sashas Blend every jar is exactly the same, packed with the highest levels of active ingredients.

"Metza has done excellent on Sashas Blend. She has not been limping since I started her on it.

Very bad news is that she's got very bad hip dysplasia. On a scale from 0 - 4 where 0 is the perfect hip rating and 4 is a disaster, she is on 3 so I will definitely have her on Sashas Blend for the rest of her life. She was x-rayed in March this year and turned 6 on the 1st of April.

She is currently still training and has now completed 6 shows in Class C.

The vet was amazed that she is not limping at all. I can only see the good about Sashas Blend, thank you for giving it to me and introducing it to me." - Mari, Cape Town

A question regarding conservation.

Our Certificate of Export is issued by the Department of Conservation in New Zealand (Permit No. 09NZEEC1033/CY).  Here the Director-General of Conservation certifies that shipments of Sashas Blend and Joint XL's ingredients as stated in the schedule:

  • is in accordance with the laws of New Zealand;
  • will not be detrimental to the survival of the species in the wild;
  • does not come from species listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) of Wild Fauna and Flora and;
  • conforms to the requirements of the Convention.

citesThe CITES certificate is quite self explanatory and the fact that it is reviewed and then renewed or revoked every 6 months is amazing from a conservationist point of view.

It shows that the New Zealand Department of Conservation is absolutely serious and strict in their continued assessment of their marine life in and around New Zealand which certainly earns them the title of one of the toughest Conservation Departments in the world – another point of victory for conservationists.

The permit issued to states that none of the species used in the production of Sashas Blend or Joint XL (the Human Formulation of Sashas Blend) are listed in CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and fully conforms to the requirements of the Convention.  From a conservationist point of view, this is fantastic as a species, along with its ecosystem and habitat, is sustained even if it that species is not listed as endangered or featured in CITES.

BEST JOINT PROTECTION AND SHOCK ABORBTION:  How does it work best for Hip Dysplasia?

We have been able to show through our science that Sashas Blend improves the integrity of the Synovial Membrane that Frog_Guaranteesurrounds the joint.

What does that mean?  Well, the cells that make up this membrane are responsible for producing the fluid (synovial fluid) inside the joint capsule, which provides nutrients for the cartilage along with giving extra shock absorbtion abilities to the joint ends due to its thick and ultra smooth consistancy.

With Sashas Blend, Synovial cells now stop dying at such a furious rate (caused by the inflammation associated with hip dysplasia), and they now may start regenerating.  This allows the cells to also start producing more fluid for the joint capsule.

This is very important!  Hip Dysplasia causes a larger that normal joint space to occur between ball and socket.  The body is not able to produce enough Synovial Fluid  to fill this gap sufficiently causing the joint ends to knock and rub against each other due to insufficient shock absorbtion causing even more damage and pain.

Sashas Blend bolsters the production of Synovial fluid inside the joint capsule, providing that much needed extra shock absorbing fluid in the joint.

But not only that, Sashas Blend provides anti-inflammatory properties, pain relief and feeds the cartilage with the full range of GAGs (not only Chondroitin and Glucosamine) all at the same time!

Look what others have to say about Sashas Blend and their Best Friend:

Tiger_in_tunnelTiger was rescued at 6 months of age. He was suffering of mange, secondary infection and a severely deficient immune system. 8 Months of medication finally did the trick. It took Tiger another 2 years before he was able to trust mankind again.

To further build his confidence, we started doing agility & jumping when he was 5.

After a year of training, we started competing and Tiger, bless his heart, became the comedy act for 2 years.

Although great in training, at shows he would baulk, pause, consider and reconsider the obstacles while I cajoled, taunted, crawled and rolled around desperately trying to egg him on. At one point my trainer advised that I should give up on him, yet we persevered.

Tiger

TigerThen one glorious morning, Tiger saw the light.

I was running very late that morning, and in a flurry of activity, I collected our competition numbers, and only just got Tiger to the start line in time.

Still panting, I collected what little wits I still had, readying myself for the mental battle ahead, as the whistle sounded that we should start. Before I realised, Tiger was 2 jumps ahead of me and running fast. I battled to catch up and only just managed to redirect him over the correct obstacle, before he was up and over and off again.

It felt like the course went by in a flash, as indeed it did. I fell over the finish line, exhausted. I would have to get fit!

Tiger took first place that day, the first of many to follow.

He was now 8 years old. In time, his poor beginnings in life and sport injuries took their toll which was when I tried Tiger on Sasha's Blend.

Within 3 months it showed. Tiger went on to become a champion in dog jumping and agility.

At age 11, Tiger was selected to represent his country and compete in the world championships in Belgium. We came home with a Silver medal in 2008.Tiger_Receiving_award_2008

Tiger is now 13 and still competes at the odd show, simply because he loves it, and because he's on Sasha's Blend, he can.

I'm crying as I write this, because this little dog, with oodles of character, has a really big heart and a Never-Say-Die attitude.

He had so much to overcome.....and overcome he did. I love him dearly.

Still a little unsure about Sashas Blend?

Do you have more questions that you would like to have answered?

Let me show you some more:

Jessie is a (almost 7 year old) German Shorthaired Pointer bred by Dr. Bob & Mrs Trudi Winter of Bhulisa Kennels in Durbanville.

All her life she has been a hard working gundog and Field Trial competitor as well as the best hunting companion one could wish for. And then last January (2009) she developed a lameness in her front left leg.

So we did the thing normal and rested her for a couple of weeks, but the lameness just would not go away. It in fact became so bad that after just 15 mins of activity in the field she was reduced to hopping around on 3 legs. At this point she went to our vet and he suspected a strained/damaged tendon.Jessie_4

X-Rays and an ultra-sound was done and a strained tendon was noted. So a small surgical procedure was completed to remove fluid and inject some medication which it was hoped, would solve the problem, but after more rest this proved to be to no avail. A trip to the specialist then followed. This led to an MRI which showed nothing wrong on neck and spine (the specialist suspected either a tumour or trapped nerve) and so then a surgical scope was performed on her shoulder.

Unfortunately this revealed that Jess had damaged the cartilage in the shoulder joint and also damaged one of the tendons that was judged to be beyond surgical repair.

As you can imagine, this news was pretty much devastating for such an active young working gundog.

We were advised that the only course of action open to us was a special vet mobility diet and possible supplements, but that at the end of the day, her "working" career was over.

Enter Sasha's Blend...

Jessie_in_fieldI was told about Sasha's by a fellow dog competitor and decided to give it a try as, quite honestly, we had nothing to lose.

I started to see the improvement after about 2 weeks on Sasha's and she was out in the field two weeks later for some very restricted and closely watched exercise.

Well, after nearly one and a half hours of activity, I decided to call it a day and watch her for signs of lameness/stiffness – none of which happened.

The difference in this dog is very difficult to put into words to describe – you really needed to be there to see it for yourself.

Jess went from being lame after 15 – 20 mins of activity, to being able to run and hunt for 2 – 3 HOURS and retrieve bagged game!! (some of which weighed in excess of 10kg – or put another way, almost half of her own body weight!)

At the time of writing this, she has just completed another full season in the field, is Jessie_-_German_Pointerenjoying life to the full and we are both looking forward to the next season in the veld together.

Thanks for all the advice and thanks for Sasha's Blend!!

Sincerely,

Andrew O'Dell

Sashas Blend is excellent and highly recommended for Working Dogs too:

This is Ice!  He is a dog that is ALL heart.  Unfortunately he has very bad hip dysplasiaIce_-_IPO_2008_web which was diagnosed at a very young age (C grade hips).

Ice partakes in the dog sport Schutzhund. Schutzhund has 3 disciples namely tracking, obedience and protection work.

During the obedience routine it is required for the dog to jump over a 1 metre high hurdle and then climb a 1.8 metre A-frame.  Ice would knock his back legs on the 1 metre jump every time.  This of course would hurt him and he would then find it difficult to climb over the A-frame.

I did not know what to do because Ice LOVES the sport.  The pain killers, oils and joint medications were having no effect on Ice.
Ice_with_GrantThinking I had nothing to lose, I tried Sashas Blend.

7 weeks later Ice entered the W. P. Schutzhund trial, then one month later, having qualified, Ice entered the S.A. National Schutzhund Trial and the KUSA IPO trial. Ice CLEARED evey jump!

I was blown away by the results.  Ice is a different dog at home and on the training field - more confident on the field and a lot less aggressive at home.

I will use Sashas Blend on every dog I own from now on.

Thank you

Some symptoms to watch out for which may indicate the your dog has painful joints.

If you answer YES  to any of these questions, have your dog's joint examined by your veterinarian:

  1. is your dog strangly more aggressive than usual when people approach?
  2. is your dog licking on any joint area?
  3. has your dog's appetite decreased?
  4. is your dog stiff after resting from a walk?
  5. does your dog struggle to get up from lying down?
  6. is your dog using his front legs to pull himself up from a ling position?
  7. is your dog finding it painful to flex or fully extend its rear legs?
  8. does your dog show a reluctance to participate in daily activities such as walking, running and climbing stairs?
  9. does your dog use an abnormal gait (pattern of movement of the limbs) that looks like a bunny hop (when your dog moves both hind legs at the same time)?

    I was introduced to Sashas Blend and my dog has since participlated in two Western Province and National Schuthund Trials.

    He cleared his one meter jump every time!  I have a new dog.  The turnaround in his health and performance has been 180 degrees.

    I will put every dog I own on Sashas Blend!"

    ...Injury...

    "My German Pointer comes from Champion Working Lines.

    I was devastated after an injury to her right shoulder, when the vet said ther is nothing they could do to help her.  Her KUSA Field Trial competing days were over.

    I found Sashas Blend.  My dog is now able to train and run in fields for over 7 hours without limping!

    A testimony to Sashas Blend was when she carried a 13kg quarry over 800m without a limp.  She only weights 26kg!

    Even my vet cannot believe the results!"

     I want to thank you for saving my darling dog..........Thank you I love you for mixing this brilliant brew, a great testament to your product!!! - Sachmo, Australia

  3. Hi Angela,

    In response to your request for a success story for Sasha’s, let me tell you about Jessie.

    Jessie_-_German_PointerJessie is a (almost 7 year old) German Shorthaired Pointer bred by Dr.

At this point she went to our vet and he suspected a strained/damaged tendon.

    X-Rays and an ultra-sound was done and a strained tendon was noted. So a small surgical procedure was completed to remove fluid and inject some medication which it was hoped, would solve the problem, but after more rest this proved to be to no avail. A trip to the specialist then followed. This led to an MRI which showed nothing wrong on neck and spine (the specialist suspected either a tumour or trapped Jessie_in_fieldnerve) and so then a surgical scope was performed on her shoulder.

    Unfortunately this revealed that Jess had damaged the cartilage in the shoulder joint and also damaged one of the tendons that was judged to be beyond surgical repair.

    As you can imagine, this news was pretty much devastating for such an active young working gundog.

    We were advised that the only course of action open to us was a special vet mobility diet and possible supplements, but that at the end of the day, her “working” career was over.

    Enter Sasha’s Blend...

    Jessie_4I was told about Sasha’s by a fellow dog competitor and decided to give it a try as, quite honestly, we had nothing to lose.

    I started to see the improvement after about 2 weeks on Sasha’s and she was out in the field two weeks later for some very restricted and closely watched exercise.

    Well, after nearly one and a half hours of activity, I decided to call it a day and watch her for signs of lameness/stiffness – none of which happened.

    The difference in this dog is very difficult to put into words to describe – you really needed to be there to see it for yourself.

    Jess went from being lame after 15 – 20 mins of activity, to being able to run and hunt for 2 – 3 HOURS and retrieve bagged game!!(some of which weighed in excess of 10kg – or put another way, almost half of her own body weight!)

    Jessie_3At the time of writing this, she has just completed another full season in the field, is enjoying life to the full and we are both looking forward to the next season in the veld together.

    Thanks for all the advice and thanks for Sasha’s Blend!!

    Sincerely,

    Andrew O’Dell

  4. Hello

    Tiger was rescued at 6 months of age. He was suffering of mange, secondary infection and a severely deficient immune system. 8 Months of medication finally did Tiger_2008the trick.

Tiger_in_tunnel_copy

We came home with a Silver medal in 2008.

    tiger_copy_dog_walkTiger is now 13 and still competes at the odd show, simply because he loves it, and because he's on Sasha's Blend, he can.

    I'm crying as I write this, because this little dog, with oodles of character, has a really big heart and a Never-Say-Die attitude.

    He had so much to overcome.....and overcome he did.  I love him dearly.
