What you say...
Hi Angela,
In response to your request for a success story for Sasha’s, let me tell you about Jessie.
Jessie is a (almost 7 year old) German Shorthaired Pointer bred by Dr. Bob & Mrs Trudi Winter of Bhulisa Kennels in Durbanville. All her life she has been a hard working gundog and Field Trial competitor as well as the best hunting companion one could wish for. And then last January (2009) she developed a lameness in her front left leg.
So we did the thing normal and rested her for a couple of weeks, but the lameness just would not go away. It in fact became so bad that after just 15 mins of activity in the field she was reduced to hopping around on 3 legs. At this point she went to our vet and he suspected a strained/damaged tendon.
X-Rays and an ultra-sound was done and a strained tendon was noted. So a small surgical procedure was completed to remove fluid and inject some medication which it was hoped, would solve the problem, but after more rest this proved to be to no avail. A trip to the specialist then followed. This led to an MRI which showed nothing wrong on neck and spine (the specialist suspected either a tumour or trapped
nerve) and so then a surgical scope was performed on her shoulder.Unfortunately this revealed that Jess had damaged the cartilage in the shoulder joint and also damaged one of the tendons that was judged to be beyond surgical repair.
As you can imagine, this news was pretty much devastating for such an active young working gundog.
We were advised that the only course of action open to us was a special vet mobility diet and possible supplements, but that at the end of the day, her “working” career was over.
Enter Sasha’s Blend...
I was told about Sasha’s by a fellow dog competitor and decided to give it a try as, quite honestly, we had nothing to lose.I started to see the improvement after about 2 weeks on Sasha’s and she was out in the field two weeks later for some very restricted and closely watched exercise.
Well, after nearly one and a half hours of activity, I decided to call it a day and watch her for signs of lameness/stiffness – none of which happened.
The difference in this dog is very difficult to put into words to describe – you really needed to be there to see it for yourself.
Jess went from being lame after 15 – 20 mins of activity, to being able to run and hunt for 2 – 3 HOURS and retrieve bagged game!!(some of which weighed in excess of 10kg – or put another way, almost half of her own body weight!)
At the time of writing this, she has just completed another full season in the field, is enjoying life to the full and we are both looking forward to the next season in the veld together. Thanks for all the advice and thanks for Sasha’s Blend!!
Sincerely,
Andrew O’Dell

...Arthritis...
"My Boerboel was diagnosed as 'Riddled with Arthritis' - she was not even 1 year old.
I tried Sashas Blend and I was blown away.
She is now playing with her toys like she used to as a puppy and even jumps up on me to greet me when I come home!"
- Boerboel owner, Table View, Cape Town
...Hip Dysplasia...
"My dog was diagnosed with severe hip displasia and I was asked if I want to rather put him down.
He is a working dog and loves his training so much I could not put him down.
I was introduced to Sashas Blend and my dog has since participlated in two Western Province and National Schuthund Trials.
He cleared his one meter jump every time! I have a new dog. The turnaround in his health and performance has been 180 degrees.
I will put every dog I own on Sashas Blend!"
- German Shepherd owner, Cape Town
...Injury...
"My German Pointer comes from Champion Working Lines.
I was devastated after an injury to her right shoulder, when the vet said ther is nothing they could do to help her. Her KUSA Field Trial competing days were over.
I found Sashas Blend. My dog is now able to train and run in fields for over 7 hours without limping!
A testimony to Sashas Blend was when she carried a 13kg quarry over 800m without a limp. She only weights 26kg!
Even my vet cannot believe the results!"
- German Pointer owner, Cape Town

Breed: Border Collie
Age: 6 years 2 months
Favourite sport: Agility
Problem area: Lame front shoulder

Recovery time after runs is quick and speed is such that we often win 1st place.

Update: "we ran clear in that one with her doing everything perfectly and it was good enough to win the Masters Agility class at the 2nd BC National! Onya Rave! And on your 9th birthday too! How cool is that?" "This was just amazing...and all on Raven's 9th birthday. A dog currently in remission from Canine Lymphoma and still receiving chemo. Out of the nine events I had entered that day, between the three of them (dogs) they managed to carry off the first places from seven of the events! I'm so happy I got to take them all". -- Excerpt from Simone's Blog: http://ravencypher.blogspot.com/

Raven finally lost her second battle to Canine Lymphoma in September 2009 - the same year she won these prices.

Hello
Tiger was rescued at 6 months of age. He was suffering of mange, secondary infection and a severely deficient immune system. 8 Months of medication finally did
the trick. It took Tiger another 2 years before he was able to trust mankind again. To further build his confidence, we started doing agility & jumping when he was 5.
After a year of training, we started competing and Tiger, bless his heart, became the comedy act for 2 years.
Although great in training, at shows he would baulk, pause, consider and reconsider the obstacles while I cajoled, taunted, crawled and rolled around desperately trying to egg him on. At one point my trainer advised that I should give up on him, yet we persevered.
Then one glorious morning, Tiger saw the light.I was running very late that morning, and in a flurry of activity, I collected our competition numbers, and only just got Tiger to the start line in time.
Still panting, I collected what little wits I still had, readying myself for the mental battle ahead, as the whistle sounded that we should start. Before I realised, Tiger was 2 jumps ahead of me and running fast. I battled to catch up and only just managed to redirect him over the correct obstacle, before he was up and over and off again.
It felt like the course went by in a flash, as indeed it did. I fell over the finish line, exhausted. I would have to get fit!

Tiger took first place that day, the first of many to follow.
He was now 8 years old. In time, his poor beginnings in life and sport injuries took their toll which was when I tried Tiger on Sasha's Blend.
Within 3 months it showed. Tiger went on to become a champion in dog jumping and agility.
At age 11, Tiger was selected to represent his country and compete in the world championships in Belgium. We came home with a Silver medal in 2008.
Tiger is now 13 and still competes at the odd show, simply because he loves it, and because he's on Sasha's Blend, he can. I'm crying as I write this, because this little dog, with oodles of character, has a really big heart and a Never-Say-Die attitude.
He had so much to overcome.....and overcome he did. I love him dearly.
